The kernel map

The kernel carries a map of itself. It is a declaration in the same graph model the Studio draws an agent with, kept beside the guide and turned with every change that touches a part named on it, and both kernels serve it at the map door with their live numbers — which kernel, its version and schema, how many doors it answers, how many topics the feed carries, how many tables the ground holds, the residents seated now. In the glass, how the kernel works (or HOW IT WORKS on the sill) draws it in a window over the Panel. This page draws the same declaration still, so you can read it slowly; the one in the glass is lit by the kernel it is drawn on, and its numbers are the true ones.

The kernel’s own words at the top of the map: Orreth is a kernel: one process that holds the doors, runs every body through one ring, meters every mind, writes every act to a signed record, and watches the whole. The graph you make runs INSIDE the ring — the kernel’s laws never hide in your nodes.

The road is amber in the glass; here it is the heavy arrows, numbered. The two dotted lines are the house’s: a body serves under a lease the desk minted, and each resident is a body that runs the ring too. The blocks carry their names only; the kernel’s own words for each are in the seven paragraphs below, and in the glass a click on a block reads them.

YOU AND YOUR SEAT. A person at a browser, enrolled once with an authenticator and seated by a signed token the kernel minted after a code. THE PANEL is the kernel drawn live in that browser, and the chat is its window. Nothing on the page is trusted: every door reads who you are from the seat. How a person is seated.

THE DOORS. Every way in, one gate: the browser origin closed, a knock ceiling per person, your seat’s grants read at every door, and the unseated wearing one face. The ask door turns your words into a signed fact under your name. THE FEED is every fact as it lands, one stream the glass listens to. The shelf’s doors serve crafts and their versions, the benches, and the hops a run took. The guide and this map are served the same on every kernel. The glass’s map counts the doors this kernel answers — forty-five on the walk of 2026-10-14. The HTTP doors.

THE HULL. The one ring every body runs, the crew’s residents and the agents you make alike: hear (the ask read whole, its session found) → recall (what the body remembers of you, the canon it wears, the clock and the world) → route (the way picked: chat, work or event) → work (the template’s graph — your nodes; an import node runs a repository’s code, every hop recorded) → the reply (signed by the body, whole, with its journey in plain words). The kernel’s laws live in the ring, never in your nodes. The hull.

THE MINDS. Metered, never inside the kernel. THE GATEWAY is one door to every mind; the meter counts every call, every token, every cent, for every body under its own key. THE STABLE is the stalls: which model answers for which body, at what price. The kernel authorizes and meters; it never sees the prompt. The crew and the Analyzer.

THE HOUSE. The kernel’s own crew. THE DESK is joins, leases and the standing key-check — who a body says it is, proven on a cadence. The residents are the librarian, the planner, echo, the grader, the critic and the identity and security chips, each a self that outlives its process. THE STUDIO is where a craft is authored: the bench, the cut, the experiment, the promotion. (The declaration the kernel serves still writes this block as THE WORKSHOP; the pull’s name turned on 2026-10-16, and the map turns with the next change that touches it.) The Studio.

THE GROUND. One Postgres, every act a row: the asks and replies with their journeys; THE OUTBOX, every fact signed and ordered, from which the feed reads and nothing is invented; THE SHELF, crafts by kind and version, the wear table and the benches; and the hops, every step a compiled graph took with the node, the time and the hashes of what went in and out. The glass’s map counts the tables and names the schema — fifty-two tables at schema 12 on the walk of 2026-10-14. The four memories.

THE WATCHES. The kernel keeps itself: the keeper’s beats (heartbeat, key-check, grade, prune, retention, each on a cadence); the five measurements (trust, recall, efficiency, experience, cost — unknown until measured, never a silent 1.0); and the intentions — Resiliency, and the Operating State that owns the measurements’ watches. A red watch becomes an objective. How a red watch is cured.

  1. You ask. Your words leave the chat for the ask door, your seat on the knock.
  2. A signed fact reaches the body. The ask and its fact are written in one transaction; the dispatcher hands the fact to the one body it addresses, and the body’s ring begins at hear.
  3. A mind, on the meter. At work, a think node or your code calls a mind through the gateway under the body’s own key; the cost comes back with the answer.
  4. Recorded. The reply, signed by the body, lands on the ground beside the ask with its journey.
  5. The fact lands on the feed. The outbox’s row becomes a notice on the feed.
  6. The panel lights. The glass reads the notice, lights the rail, and shows the reply whole.
  7. The watches read the record. The beats read the outbox on their cadence; a red watch wakes an intention; every green is attributed.

The road in the sequence form, with the rails named, is the first of the six pictures.
