The Studio

THE STUDIO is the full-screen pull where an agent is made and tried before it is seated. It was called the Workshop until four things were true — an agent’s making has one place (the bench); the canvas draws the true graph and lights it as a run goes; the ladder from draft to experiment is one word; and the pull’s own agent can make it all from a brief. All four were proven by 2026-10-16, and the word turned with them. The machinery kept its names: the agent that serves the pull is still the workspace body workshop, its binding is still bindings/workshop.v0.json, and the chat hears open the studio and the older open the workshop alike. This book says the Studio for the place and the workshop agent for the body that answers you there.

The Studio stands on both kernels and ships in the published image ghcr.io/iotlodge/orrethd:0.2.0 of 2026-10-16 (the 0.1.0 image of 2026-09-30 predated it); the quickstart lights it, or run the kernel from the repository. The register says what of it is proven and what is still owed.

Claim What proves it When
One place. An agent’s whole story is one row of the ground, the bench. The walk’s Part A by hand: a bench left, the page reloaded, the browser changed, the bench found where it stood. Walked 2026-10-13
The true graph, lit live. LangGraph code is the agent’s graph; the canvas draws its shape inside the kernel’s ring and a run lights the hops it took. The body reads a compiled graph’s own shape on its first run; every hop is a record; the canvas plays them. The formal walk of steps 8 to 10 is owed on the register. Built 2026-10-13/14
One word to work. put ‹name› to work is one held act for the whole chain of cuts. The walk’s step 11, validated on the ground: one hold, the cuts in one transaction at the Yes, the experiment opened, the second try refused in words. Walked 2026-10-14
The agent makes it all. One brief, one Yes. The walk’s Part B by the agent: a bench, four crafts and one held act from one sentence; promoted; the agent answered in three languages. Walked 2026-10-16

The pages after this one take the claims in that order: the true graph, one word to work, the agent makes it all, and the walk as a story you can follow at your own keyboard.

A bench is a named effort under your seat; the agent’s name is the bench’s name. Everything about the agent’s making is one row of the ground: its drafts, its step in the making, its experiments, its lives (the trial lives and the seated ones), the hold it is waiting on, and its wounds in plain words. Leave it, reload the page, change browsers, and it stands where you left it; a second seat and the workshop agent see the same row.

The strip of steps on a bench reads NAME · GRAPH · GOLDEN · SAVE · PUT TO WORK · THE CARD · PROMOTE · JOINED. Every draft files on its bench; a draft with no bench is loose. A bench closes by itself when its agent joins, and closes on your word when you let it go. Letting a bench go is routine, like discarding a draft: its drafts are discarded, its open experiment declined, and what reached the shelf stays — a version is never deleted.

Say What happens
new agent · make an agent · open the wizard A new bench with the wizard on it: name → graph → golden cases → SAVE → PUT TO WORK → the card → PROMOTE → joined. The same as + new agent on the rail.
open the jonathan bench · resume the jonathan bench Opens that bench where it stands. Its row on the rail does the same; typing an open bench’s name at NAME opens it too.
my benches Every bench with its step, its drafts and whether an experiment is open — studio1 · at THE CARD · 0 drafts · an experiment open.
let the jonathan bench go · close the jonathan bench Routine: drafts discarded, the open experiment declined, the bench closed; what reached the shelf stands.

The word bench has an older meaning in the kernel — the dispatcher’s waiting bench where a body’s asks queue. The Studio’s bench is a different table and the two never meet in code.

The left rail reads, top to bottom: YOUR BENCHES first, each with its step and its drafts under it; then LOOSE DRAFTS; then THE SHELF folded by kind with counts (templates · 14, open on a click; retired crafts folded under their kind); then THE HOUSE — the crew’s own crafts folded under one row. The chat’s residents rail shows the agents you made first, then the house · N folded under one chip, with trial lives at rest folded too. The filter box finds anything by name across every fold. The walk’s first bar was no scrolling zoo.

A consequential act in the Studio — a cut, put to work, a promotion — is the kernel’s one hold at the interlock, and it shows in two places: pinned in the chat above the composer, and on the bench’s card with its own Yes — do it and Cancel. Either face answers the same hold through the same door; the other settles the moment it does. The chat remains the record: every answer lands there as a line whichever face took the click. A Yes is a click on either face, never Enter.

The Studio is four panes on one grid over the Panel’s own: THE SHELF on the left, THE CANVAS over THE DECLARATION in the middle, THE INSPECTOR on the right. Every seam is a splitter; double-click one for the stock size; ⟲ layout puts every pane back. The chat floats over the Studio as it does over the Panel; ⌖ pin on its header makes it the grid’s own column. With the Studio open the chat speaks to the workshop agent, and your open draft rides your ask so the agent edits that draft on your words — it never cuts. The MIND chip in the header assigns the agent’s stall from the Stable, held at the interlock. Esc closes one thing at a time.

Say What happens
open the studio · studio · close the studio Opens or closes the Studio pull (one pull at a time; the STUDIO tab on the right does the same). The old words — open the workshop · workshop · close the workshop — are heard the same way. Opening pushes a focus: the chat speaks to the workshop agent until you close it.
load the librarian template in the studio · load my bob draft in the studio Opens the Studio with that craft or draft loaded (… in the workshop is heard too). A craft from the shelf is read-only — draft from this copies it into a draft of yours.
workshop, add an echo node after think · workshop, wire a way out of think to greet when the ask says hello The agent reads your open draft and edits it through its draft tool with the whole declaration; the canvas redraws and says so.
(click a node) The node inspector: id · kind (think, echo, import) · prompt and skill · tools (narrowing, never past what the template declares) · mind · words.
(click an arrow) The way out and its when: the default, the hull’s edge (chat · work · event), a pattern in the ask, or a pattern in the last reply.
SAVE · discard the draft · close the draft · clear the studio SAVE is routine, under your seat. Close keeps the draft and clears the canvas; only discard lets a draft go.

The kernel’s one hold per consequential act; the Yes a click, never Enter; the chat as the record. Drafts ordinary and under the person. The Experiment as the agent’s gate with four reviewers under their own names (how their verdicts and the kernel’s five measurements relate is on the operating state). Where the next life stands as the promotion’s one field. The hull’s laws never in the agent’s graph. The guide turning with the glass — say guide in the Studio and its section opens (the guide is at 0.17.0 with the word turned).
